Professional development (PD) is delivered by teachers for teachers in capital cities and regional centres based on demand, and three free sessions are offered during the year for teachers purchasing multiple copies. The aim of the sessions is to provide an in-depth look at particular areas of mathematics, with discussion of classroom practice. The program is flexible and the presentations are adapted to the needs of the teachers. All sessions allow time for talking about the program and how it is going in each school. This is an important time to network with other teachers, pick up useful teaching tips and share success stories with others. The writers and PD leaders are highly regarded and experienced mathematics teachers. The PDs have a structured approach with clear explanations, and have been carefully checked by mathematics experts to ensure correctness and consistency. A key feature of the PD's design is to ensure that teachers who use the ICE-EM Mathematics program can readily meet their state or territory curriculum requirements.
